Santa Barbara Trail Run offers the following distance options

á      100k

á      50k

á      30k

á      10k

SBTR Summary

Starting and finishing at Rancho Oso Guest Ranch, located 45 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara in the lower Santa Ynez Recreation Area. Runners depart in an easterly direction to the Upper Santa Ynez Recreation Area (100k- Romero Camuesa, 50k Gibraltar Reservoir, 30k Angostura Pass and 10k Arroyo Burro Saddle). Trail runners will experience an ample mix of single track trails cut through the dense native chaparral, meandering forest fire roads and numerous seasonal creek crossings, generous climbs and epic meandering descents through the stunning and rugged Santa Barbara backcountry topography in its late spring glory as a cornucopia of wildflowers will be in full bloom on the north and south slopes and the normally crispy Mediterranean chaparral will be verdant.

Mid-June weather can range from cool and dense fog to soaring afternoon temperatures.

The SBTR course predominantly traverses the north side of the Santa Ynez Mountain Range, one of only a few ranges in the contiguous United States that runs entirely east to west. The rugged topography is steepest on the northern side, which boasts grassy potrero’s, Oak savannas and deep canyons with seasonal creeks that flow through dense Alder and Sycamore grottos. The south slopes are choked with dense chaparral, dramatic views of sandstone, Coldwater and Matilija formations, and the ridgeline traverses offer unmatched views of the expansive Dick Smith Wilderness and Los Padres National Forest.

The Santa Barbara Trail Run offers entrants of all calibers an exceptionally challenging and rewarding trail running experience.

Drop Bags:

The run organization makes allowances for entrants to use "drop bags". This is an option that the entrant has elected to use to support and enhance individual needs beyond what the run organization typically provides. Please be aware that this run organization reserves the right to deliver the drop bag to an alternate location in the event that unforeseen circumstance has arisen that prevents the drop bag from being delivered to the original intended location. Entrants must assume full responsibility for any items they elect or have asked run organization personnel to place in their drop bags. The run organization cannot assume the liability or responsibility for any items in the drop bag(s). The run organization DOES NOT offer or allow any preferential drop bag handling options…period.

SBTR 100k and 50k entrant drop bags and Lost & Found articles will be delivered to Entrant Drop Bag Retrieval – Lost & Found station between 19:00 – 21:00 Saturday, June 15, 2013. The Entrant Drop Bag Retrieval area will be located near the SBTR finish line at Rancho Oso Guest Ranch
